Never sow to early!
Avoid sowing to early, seed will germinate badly or not at all. Seedlings will grow very slow and are much more vulnerable to pests and diseases. Always sow on days without wind and just after a bit of rain has fallen.( mist the soil after sowing).
Fragrant Lilies
Most Lilies are very fragrant. The orientals and trumpet Lilies are so fragrant that you can smell the perfume of the flowers throughout any room or garden. Plant Lilies at a sufficient depth of 8 - 12 ", the bigger the bulb the deeper
you should plant. Various Lily varieties produce roots above the bulbs , they also need to be under the surface of the soil. Asiatic Lily varieties do very well in planters. Always allow sufficient drainage by putting pot shreds or stones at the bottom of the planter. Fertilize Lilies with organic fertilizer on top of the soil twice per year, once  the sprouts emerge and again before flowerbuds are mature. They will naturalize in any border. Chase away the first sight of red Lily beetle as they will damage the foliage.
